A core focus at PACT

Trigger point dry needling

Patients come to PACT specifically for Andrew's dry needling. With 14+ years of dedicated practice, it is a core focus of the clinic, used to release stubborn trigger points and ease referred pain, alongside hands on therapy and exercise.

Trigger point dry needling is a physiotherapy technique. It is not acupuncture.

Frequently asked questions

Good to know before you book

How much does physiotherapy cost at PACT?
Initial physiotherapy is $165 for 60 minutes and follow ups are $142 for 40 minutes. Approved workers comp and CTP appointments are billed directly to the insurer.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is needed to book privately. Referrals are required for Medicare Chronic Disease Management plans and most claim pathways.
What is dry needling versus acupuncture?
Dry needling is a physiotherapy technique that targets trigger points in muscle to ease pain and tension. It is not acupuncture, which is based on traditional Chinese medicine.
Does PACT accept workers comp?
Yes. We treat NSW workers compensation and CTP claims and bill the insurer directly, so there is nothing for you to pay on approved claims.
Can I be compensated for a work related injury?
If you are injured at work in NSW, or work has significantly contributed to your condition, you can lodge a workers compensation claim. Tell your employer, see your doctor for a Certificate of Capacity, and the claim is lodged with your employer's insurer. An accepted claim covers reasonably necessary treatment such as physiotherapy, and can include weekly payments while you recover. We bill the insurer directly, so accepted claims cost you nothing at your appointment.
What is maximum medical improvement (MMI)?
Maximum medical improvement is the point where your work related injury has stabilised and further significant improvement is not expected with treatment. It matters in NSW workers compensation because permanent impairment is only assessed once you reach MMI. Reaching MMI does not automatically end your treatment, and the goal of structured physiotherapy is to reach the strongest recovery possible before you get there.
How many physio sessions does workers comp cover?
Where treatment starts within three months of your injury and a physiotherapist has not treated it before, SIRA allows up to eight sessions on an accepted claim before insurer approval is needed. The exact number depends on your circumstances. When more treatment is needed we submit an Allied Health Treatment Request to your insurer and handle the paperwork, so there is no gap in your care.
Can I choose my own physio for my workers comp claim?
Yes. In NSW you have the right to choose your own SIRA approved physiotherapist. Your employer or insurer can suggest a clinic, but the choice is yours, and you can change physios during your claim. If you move to PACT mid claim, we take over with one pre approved session and handle the approval paperwork from there.
Where is the clinic?
PACT Physio & Rehab is at Unit 1/196 Sylvania Road, Miranda NSW 2228, in the Sutherland Shire.
Is there parking at the clinic?
Yes. There is street parking right at the front door, so no hunting for a spot and no long walk in. There is just one small step into the waiting area, and a clean, accessible bathroom on site. You are inside within a minute of pulling up.
Is Andrew AHPRA registered?
Yes. Andrew Ellis is an AHPRA registered physiotherapist and a SIRA approved physiotherapist.
Do you offer telehealth appointments?
Yes. PACT Virtual Care offers telehealth physiotherapy across Australia, with the same assessment and care as in the clinic. It suits follow ups, busy weeks, and anyone who cannot easily get in, and approved workers compensation and CTP telehealth is billed directly to the insurer.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Bring any relevant scans or referral, a short list of any medications you take, and clothing you can move in. For a workers compensation or CTP claim, bring your claim number and case manager details so we can bill the insurer directly.
How long is a physiotherapy appointment?
Your first appointment is 60 minutes so we can assess properly and build a plan, and follow ups are 40 minutes. We keep appointments thorough and unhurried rather than rushing you through.
